Get Social with Us

Fr Peter McGrath CP established Family Groups with one aim in mind - to provide an avenue of friendship that would support families of every description, and to allow opportunity to get  to know one another.  In this way they would become an extended family.  Have a listen to Peter's own words about PASSIONIST FAMILY GROUPS.

Established in 1972, the  aim of the Passionist Family Group Movement is to build Christian community through the development of extended families.  With loneliness and isolation so prevalent in our society, there is a genuine need for people to know and support each other.  Family groups create an extended family atmosphere within the community and are open to everyone.  The focus is on people caring for, loving and accepting each other.
The Aims of the Family Group Movement are:
  • to get to know other members of the Parish
  • to support each other sharing each others joys and sorrows and so building the Christian community as it was in the early Church.
  • to involve our children in our Christian sharing directly, if possible
  • and if not then indirectly by our example.
In our parish, Family Groups usually meet once a month, to share a simple low-cost social activity and spend time together. It might be in a home, the local park or be a specified activity eg movies, picnic, etc. Doing things together allows all to get to know and support one another. Why not join in by contacting one of the convenors and asking questions? Alternatively you could check the  Bulletin to see what is coming up as Family Group activities.
