NOTE:
Before making a booking request, it is essential that you read the information below which covers costs and policies relating to weddings. Once you have read, click "I Agree" or "I Don' t Agree" at the bottom of the page. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT COSTS, REGULATIONS AND PROTOCOLS: The Cathedral is available for weddings on Saturdays only at 12.00 noon, 2.00pm and 4.00pm. Celebrant: Any Catholic priest or deacon registered as a Marriage Celebrant in Australia may officiate. You are welcome to invite your own parish priest or priest friend to officiate. Alternatively, we can nominate a priest to be your celebrant subject to a preliminary meeting with the Dean of the Cathedral. Your marriage celebrant acts on behalf of the Commonwealth and the Church and is responsible for the following:
Music: Music for weddings in the Cathedral is provided by Cathedral musicians who are tertiary qualified and experienced at dealing with the liturgical and other requirements. Musicians who are not on the Cathedral staff are not permitted to perform at weddings in the Cathedral. The Cathedral organ is played at weddings, usually along with a cantor/vocalist (either male or female) from the Cathedral music staff. If the wedding is to be a Mass, both the organ and a cantor are essential. The Cathedral Choir can be available on request, except for during school holidays. Musicians who are not on the Cathedral staff are not permitted to perform at weddings in the Cathedral. A variety of instrumental and vocal music is possible at weddings, but it must be in keeping with the sacred nature of the ceremony. Secular love songs are not appropriate, and portable keyboards and recorded music (tapes or CDs) are not permitted. The Director of Music must be contacted before any arrangements are made for music at weddings in the Cathedral. This should generally be no more than 4 months prior to the wedding and after scripture readings have been selected. The Director of Music is responsible for ensuring that the music at your Wedding is suitable to the Liturgy you determined with your priest. When contacting the Director of Music by email ( music@cam.org.au), please be ready to provide the following information:
The Director of Music will then be able to put you in contact with the relevant musicians, and will provide you with an outline including musical choices from which you can make your selection.
Payments should be made directly to organist, cantor or choir. Weddings at the Cathedral Cost $2200 for 2019 A deposit of $1100 is required to secure the booking.
Photography & Videography One professional photographer and one professional video camera operator may take formal photographs in the Cathedral. Under new laws in Australia, we will need a copy of Government Working With Children Check for both and any assistant they bring with them.
Bride Arrival Late arrival of the bride (more then 10 minutes) is unacceptable and can cause serious inconvenience to our staff, your guests and the next wedding party. Late arrivals may result in musicians and bell ringers being unable to provide services for your wedding and a shortened ceremony. Flowers: Flowers are arranged by the Cathedral florist. He will ensure that placement and colours are in accordance with the liturgical season. Pew bows and similar decorations are not permitted. Bells: You can arrange to have the Cathedral bells rung for the wedding by contacting the bellringers directly. We will supply you with their contact details. The fee for 2019: Payment and order form is sent directly to bellringers. Cancellation of confirmed bookings must be sent in writing. A refund will be issued less a $50 administration fee. |
